We can make the process of taking medication easy, ensuring that you are always taking the right medicine, at the right time!
Our carers are trained to administer medication as prescribed by a health practitioner and we refresh this training annually. Alongside their formal training, our carers receive six monthly observations from our Quality and Assurance Team who will assess the carers capability and competency in this field.
We do not administer over the counter medications.
Carers will follow the administration recording sheet to ensure that you are receiving the medication needed at the times prescribed. The level of support can vary from a gentle reminder to full administration of medication.
Our carers can, if needed, reorder medication and can, on occasions collect prescriptions, recording them accurately on the recording and monitoring system. We work in close partnership with an independent pharmacy who provide advice for our carers and customers and who will, following customer agreement, take over the role of ordering, reviewing and delivering all medications. Whilst this is an additional service to the support delivered from Key 2 Care, this service is a free one and is offered to all new and existing customers and takes away the worry and pressures for you.
Over the past two years, my nan used 3 different care agencies, but this one without a shadow of a doubt is the most compassionate of them all. The carers arrive on time, of course, and they genuinely go above and beyond to ensure that my nan is not only cared for but also entertained - I've walked in on a sing-along once before!
